Jeni Hansen

A natural connector, Jeni has over 20 years’ experience building relationships in Washington, DC and around the world. She leverages her prestigious network and business acumen to identify and develop successful business alliances.

Bio

Appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser and confirmed by the Council of the District of Columbia, Jeni Hansen is one of the six members of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, overseeing the regulation of alcohol and cannabis in Washington, DC.

Previously, Jeni served on the Board of Directors of the Boston College Alumni Association, The Historic George Town Club, the Boeing Employees Community Fund, and the Citizen Advisory Committee of the DC Department of Motor Vehicles. She is currently appointed to the Council for Women of Boston College, and serves on the host committees for the Go Bo Fund and The District Cup.

Jeni is an alumna of Washington’s preeminent female private school, National Cathedral School, and Chair of its Black Alumnae Association.

In 2014, Jeni founded JHS Partners to advise clients on stakeholder engagement and other strategies for growth, impact, and sustainability. Drawing from her experience as an educator, consultant, writer, editor, and board chairwoman, Jeni has successfully advised entrepreneurs, CEOs, small businesses, corporations, and non-profit organizations.

She also spent a combined 10 years working as Associate Director of Admission in two DC area private schools, and working in college counseling at the Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Jeni enjoys the art of the dinner party, rides Harleys with her beloved (adopted) Veterans Motorcycle Club, and - against her better judgment - occasionally practices the game of golf. Her grandmother, the late famed milliner, Vanilla Beane, was known as "DC's Hat Lady." Her exhibit can be viewed at the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC).
